NCOM07 Range Rover P38 Motronic V8 (Petrol 1999 onwards) kit
The Nanocom Evolution for the P38 Motronic V8 includes the following:
The main Nanocom Evolution unit,
Green OBD lead lead (used to connect the Nanocom Evolution unit to the vehicles OBD socket),
USB Update lead (used to connect the Nanocom Evolution unit to a laptop/PC for updating Firmware or inputting the unlock codes),
Unlock codes for the Range Rover P38 Motronic V8:
NCOM15:
Motronic Petrol V8 Engine Management System
Functions include Reading and Clearing of Faults, Settings including programming records, live data Inputs, checking output functions and also the ability to reset the adaptive values. The Motronic ECU cannot be programmed by the Nanocom Evolution
NCOM16 P38 Systems: (All ECU's are covered irrespecitve of P38 model)
BeCM (Body Control Module)
The BeCM does not actually have a fault code memory but instead has Outstations and monitors the radio frequencies used in the immobilization system. The software allows the reading and clearing of the RF memory and also the outstations. Various settings can be read and some changed. Live data can be read using the Inputs and also various functions can be tested using the Outputs option. On North American Specification (NAS) or Canadian models only, you can reset the Service Reminder lamp where this function is enabled. It should be noted that if the BeCM ECU is Locked, which is the state it is shipped from new, then certain information is not accessible. If the BeCM is Alarmed it will need to be unlocked by a specialist before any communication is possible. The Nanocom Evolution does not have the ability to unlock the BeCM.
Lucas EAS (Electronic Air Suspension)
Reading and Clearing of fault codes, reading the actual height settings plus calibration options to set the heights and store them for High profile, Standard height, Low profile and Access heights. Live data inputs can be read from the ECU. various output options allow the opening and closing of valves and also to run the compressor pump if required for a short period. The utility section allows to simulate the use of the buttons in the vehicle to send the vehicle to its preset heights or deflate the system completely for maintenance work.
Wabco C type ABS (1994 to 1999)
As well as reading and clearing of faults as standard, the actual settings are limited to 3 items but shows if ETC (Electronic Traction Control) is fitted to the ABS ECU. Inputs of Live data and Outputs for testing functions are available as is the function to bleed the hydraulic system. It should be noted that the live data function ceases to read once the vehicle reaches a certain road speed. This is a manufacturing setting that cannot be overridden.
Wabco D type ABS (1999 onwards)
As well as reading and clearing of faults as standard, this ECU not only controls the ABS but also the HDC (Hill Decent Control), Electronic Brake Distribution (EBD) and Electronic Traction Control (ETC) and the settings pages will show or allow the setting to be changed to reflect these fitments. Inputs of Live data and Outputs for testing functions are available as the function to Bleed the hydraulic system. It should be noted that the live data function ceases to read once the vehicle reaches a certain road speed. This is a manufacturing setting that cannot be overridden.
TRW MPS (TYPE 1) Airbag
(up to 1996 or in North American Specification models NAS up to 1999)
The ECU can generate and store up to 24 faults which can be read and cleared using the Nanocom when generated.
TRW SPS (TYPE 1) Airbag (1996 to 1999)
The ECU can generate and store up to 24 faults which can be read and cleared using the Nanocom when generated.
TRW SPS (TYPE 2) Airbag (1999 onwards)
The ECU can generate and store up to 37 faults which can be read using the Nanocom when generated. Only one of the settings in the airbag is programmable which is the VIN number.
BOSCH AUTO BOX GS2.38 (fitted up to 2002)
This ECU offers limited capability in the way of diagnostics but can generate and store up to 44 different problems which the Nanocom Evolution can read and clear. Live data can be obtained and a few settings read but these are generally Read only and cannot be changed.
BOSCH AUTO BOX GS8.87.1 (1999 onwards)
This ECU learns the driving practices and stores them over time. These settings can be reset by the Nanocom Evolution if any components in the gearbox have been replaced or the gearbox itself has been replaced. Faults can be read and cleared as well as reading live data from the gearbox.
VALEO HEVAC
An often problematic ECU built into the P38 although not all models had it fitted. As well as the usual reading and clearing of faults, you can calibrate the Blend flaps after replacement, test the blower functions as well as testing a small amount of outputs. The settings page is very limited on this ECU and is Read only meaning that you cannot make any changes to the settings themselves.
